 Dr. Olsen was a foundational member of Zillow Economic Research, where she leads a team of economists and analysts who provide unbiased data and analyses about the housing market to inform policymakers, journalists, academics and consumers. Dr. Olsen is often quoted in media outlets across the country, and has made appearances on The Today Show, CNBC and Bloomberg TV, among others. Dr. Olsen has also offered testimony on fair housing before the United States House Financial Services Committee. She holds a Phd in economics from the University of Washington, specializing in econometrics and environmental economics, and was honored for teaching excellence by the University of Washington.
Manny joined Zillow in October 2018 to work on Zillow’s flagship Consumer Housing Trends Report. Since that time, Manny has added more than 10 additional surveys to measure consumer sentiment and demographic shifts in the housing and rentals market. Through analysis of Zillow survey data and public sources like the American Community Survey, Manny’s research brings attention to challenges consumers face when trying to buy or rent a home. Previous to his time at Zillow, Manny managed a survey data pipeline for thousands of survey and census datasets at the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation. Manny received his Bachelor of Science in geography, with a focus on geographic information sciences, from the University of Oregon.
